For a variety of reasons many company’s book of business have incorrect addresses. In some cases, when the policy application was submitted, a property may not yet have been assigned a physical address. In other instances, the insurer may only have the TMK designation on file but not the actual address. While this omission may seem insignificant at first glance, there can be consequences to having suspect book of business recordkeeping. The penalties can range from simply accepting undesirable risks (no premises inspection due to location uncertainty ), to paying a punitive fee to the reinsurer, to ultimately having your company’s rating lowered.
